NCL continues its commitment to the Big Easy

-Norwegian Spirit homeports in New Orleans for 2007-

London, 16 June 2006:  NCL has announced that Norwegian Spirit will sail out of New Orleans from November 2007 to April 2008 on exotic seven-night Western Caribbean cruises. The itinerary will include calls into Belize City, Santo Tomas in Guatemala and Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico.

“We are delighted to be able to demonstrate our continued commitment to this historic city in 2007,” commented Francis Riley, Managing Director of NCL UK. “We are the first cruise line to sail out of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina this autumn with Norwegian Sun making it her homeport. Freestyle Cruising out of the city has proven to be very popular and we are pleased to be returning there next year.”

“We are thrilled with the commitment that NCL has shown our city and that the company will be returning in 2007 with Norwegian Spirit,” said Gary LaGrange, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans. ”New Orleans continues to be one of the most popular points of embarkation for cruise ship customers and the cruise industry has evolved into a major economic engine for the entire city, generating $226 million in direct and indirect sales annually. NCL is a vital part of that success.”

After the 2007 summer deployment out of New York, Norwegian Spirit repositions to New Orleans on 18 November 2007, replacing Norwegian Sun which is moving to Hawai’i for the winter season.  The 11-night Exotic Western Caribbean cruise will cost from £999 per person and includes three nights accommodation pre-cruise in New Orleans, providing guests with the opportunity to explore this exciting and vibrant city before embarking on their cruise. The ship features NCL’s unique Freestyle Cruising concept with eight restaurants, 12 bars and lounges and a state-of-the-art spa and fitness facility.
