Norwegian Jewel in the Med as Hawai'i arrives in the City of Angels
-NCL's double cause for celebration-
London, 16 May 2006: Award winning, innovative cruise company, NCL, is celebrating a double whammy this week as its newest luxury cruise ship Pride of Hawai'i is introduced to its 15 strong fleet in Los Angeles, and the majestic Norwegian Jewel sails from her summer home port of Barcelona marking the company's return to the Mediterranean after three years.
Pride of Hawai'i will be welcomed in a glittering christening ceremony in the City of Angels on Saturday 20th May led by Hawaiian Senator Daniel K. Inouye. On her arrival, the majestic Pride of Hawai'i will complete the trilogy of NCL ships cruising the Hawaiian islands under the NCL America brand. The 2,376 guest, luxury ship has eight restaurants, 10 bars and lounges, a spa, spectacular theatre, health and fitness facilities and boasts the most luxurious complex of suites at sea.
Thanks to the unique US flagged status of the NCL America ships, NCL is the only cruise line that can offer unrivalled access to the beautiful Hawaiian islands without having to cruise into international waters. Pride of Hawai’i will depart weekly from 4th June, starting the 7-night voyage from Honolulu to Hilo, Kahului, Kona and Nawiliwili before returning to Honolulu. Prices for the 10-night fly-cruise holiday start from £1449pp, which includes the 7-nights Freestyle Cruising and pre-and post- cruise accommodation.
Whilst Pride of Hawai'i is enjoying her first taste of the open seas in LA, NCL's magnificent Norwegian Jewel will be embarking on the first cruise of her summer programme out of Barcelona. Like her sister ship Pride of Hawai'i, Norwegian Jewel was purpose built for NCLs Freestyle Cruising concept and joined the fleet only last year.
Boasting ten restaurants, 13 bars and lounges, glittering Broadway productions in the Stardust Theatre, Norwegian Jewel truly is a luxurious floating resort offering the holiday choice and flexibility that guests have come to expect from NCL's Freestyle Cruising. She will be sailing out of Barcelona on 7-night itineraries visiting Sicily, Rome and Florence in Italy as well as Nice in France. The 7-night Western Mediterranean fly-cruise costs from £699pp including flights and transfers, or £499pp for cruise only.
