Ruby Wax heads the line up of celebrities at NCL’s sparkling inaugural of Norwegian Gem

London, 31 July 2007… Today, NCL Freestyle Cruising® announced the first of the celebrities it has got on board to headline the entertainment at the inaugural of its latest Jewel-class ship, the spectacular Norwegian Gem in Dover on 5 October 2007.

Comedian and larger than life personality, Ruby Wax, will be adding a little gem-like sparkle of her own, hosting a media dinner and lighting the blue touch paper for a spectacular firework display set to light up the White Cliffs. Meanwhile, wine expert and all-round bon viveur, Jilly Goolden, will be a sharing her knowledge in inimitable style at a tutored Champagne tasting.

NCL has invited hundreds of travel agents from around the UK, press and representatives of other cruise lines attending the PSA Annual Dinner, which NCL is hosting aboard the Gem. They can all look forward to a glittering Gala Evening to include dinner, entertainment and an overnight on board. They’ll have the opportunity to tour the ship, checking out the bowling alley, rock climbing wall, the 12 restaurants and dining rooms, 11 bars and lounges and huge choice of accommodation from spacious staterooms to the ultra-deluxe Courtyard Villas and three-bedroom Garden Villas.

“It’s always a great pleasure to host our travel partners at such a star-studded event as a ship inaugural, but this one is particularly important”, comments Francis Riley, General Manager NCL UK. “Not only does the Gem complete our quartet of Jewel-class ships, she’s also sailing in Europe in 2008, one of three ships that makes up our largest ever deployment this side of the Atlantic. It will offer travel agents a perfect opportunity to get to know the ship and experience a taste of NCL Freestyle Cruising. And, because the Gem is the same class of ship as the Jewel and Jade, agents will be able to sell all three Jewel-class ships and the European itineraries specially planned with our UK guests in mind with extra confidence.”
